The Da Vinci Code caused quite a stir in the catholic community. They said it was blasphemous because it challenged several catholic beliefs. However several devout catholics did not mind the texts written in the book. Personally, I think the texts were obviously fiction and would not really lead catholics astray.
Just this 2nd week of May 2009, Dan Brown offered the first mystery adventure of Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon in Angels & Demons. Langdon was asked to work with the Vatican officials to solve the kidnapping case of its 4 Cardinals (favorites among those to be chosen to replace the Pope who just recently died), that turned into murder. The case was a race to prevent a terrorist act against the Vatican. It would take you around Rome's magnificent monuments and churches built by famous artists like Michael Angelo, Raphael, among others. The ending of the story makes you ponder on the question whether Religion and Science can compromise or do their ideologies really repel each other.
